Trap-Neuter-Return in Warren County, Iowa – making a difference one cat at a time
Whiskers TNR of Warren County aims to facilitate spaying and neutering of cats and kittens in Warren County.
Whiskers is a Trap-Neuter-Return program in Warren County Iowa. We volunteer our time and effort to provide a humane and effective approach to the over-population problem among the county’s barn, stray and feral cats. Research has shown that TNR helps improve the lives of feral cats, improves relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time. Whiskers TNR volunteers work to teach others how to trap cats and coordinate appointments to have the cats spayed or neutered and receive a rabies vaccine. When foster homes are available, we can work with individuals to help find homes for unwanted kittens if they agree to spay the mother and all other cats on their property. For the majority of the time, the cats are spayed and neutered and returned to their colonies on the property where they were living. The organization will also provide education to inform the public concerning the cat over-population problem and the ways in which the public can respond constructively. All activities will be coordinated by the organization’s volunteers. Whiskers TNR is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity and holds a current animal welfare license in the state of Iowa.
